Lusty Kitten Lab is a highly experimental event blending the structure and polish of a produced show with the wonderful unpredictability of an open mic variety night. Think of it as an art flight. Expect the unexpected as we open the stage to performers committed to working on their craft in front of a live audience. The stage is set for burlesque, spoken word, stand-up comedy, magic, dance, music, poetry, drag, live painting, storytelling and other forms of performing arts, including the screening of short films.
We invite artists to submit in advance for shows, particularly those with a theme, however we will have select “wild card” slots available starting 1 hour before show time for those who are unable to sign-up in advance. Artists will have the opportunity to fine-tune debut acts, get practice performing in front of an audience, work on stage presence and try out new material in a high energy and dynamic environment. Audiences will have the opportunity to see new and rare acts, performer debuts and support up and coming artists.
We are a body positive, sex positive, gender positive and queer positive organization dedicated to intersectional inclusivity; we aim to support marginalized artists by creating a space to amplify their voices and share their talents with the community. Please bear this in mind when submitting acts.
Due to the experimental nature of an “open mic” night, admission is free for audience members. There is a free parking garage behind the building. The Goods, located next to the Tattered Cover Bookstore and the Sie Film Center on Colfax, features a delicious late night happy hour menu including, but not limited to, vegan and vegetarian fare.
Bring cash, we encourage tipping the performing artists and servers working hard to provide a night of experimental entertainment.
